Our next community market will be held on World Environment Day, Saturday 5th June, from 9am – 1pm.

“Green Urbanistas” is about sustainability in cities and how we as city dwellers can live respectfully and sustainably on this planet. This term’s market will involve a range of environmentally conscious community groups, social enterprises, and local traders.

The market will feature:

plants and produce; recycled books; recycled funky clothes; hand made clothes; home made food; a slow food kitchen; Waterwatch activity trailer;  Home retrofit advice; kids activities and entertainment; local buskers and much, much more!!!!

WFNH is pleased to announce that its brand new 3yld kindergarten activity program will commence from term 3 2010.  Based on a philosophy of “learning through play” and the new Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, our program incorporates activities such as:

• Kids in the kitchen cooking class where children will be able to participate in the preparation of age appropriate healthy eating recipes and learn a little more about good food along the way
• Interactive library visits to the West Footscray library located down stairs. Children will take their library bags and learn how to borrow books of their choice and how to take care and value them
• Music and dance

Our kinder activity program is closely affiliated with the WFNH toy and book libraries which means that we have a regular rotation of quality books and educational toys for our children to enjoy and explore.

For 2010, this program will be held on Thursday mornings for 3 hours. Subject to demand, an afternoon session may also be available.

This supported walking group is for mums, with or without pram!

Starts at 10.30am at the Neighbourhood House for a circuit around some very interesting streets in West Footscray and ending back at the House for morning tea.

Come along:

• great exercise
• great Vitamin D for you and bubby
• great company with other walking mums
• and a great way to get to know your neighbourhood!

What to bring:

• water bottle for you & drink for bubby (if not breast feeding)
• nappies for bubby
• hat & sunscreen
• wear comfortable walking shoes!
